Six weeks and counting – Baby Izzy

At 7 weeks today, Izzy continues to be a delight to us. She’s super strong and is starting to sleep through the night. Hooray!! I love taking photos of her. She’s getting a little too old to lull to sleep in crazy poses, but I was glad to slide a few more in last week . . .

I love the crazy hat. Just a couple more with her sleeping:

But then she woke up and was WIDE awake.

I hope she keeps her blue sparkle eyes . . .

The newborn stage is going so quickly! Our baby Izzy is already one month old. She’s becoming more alert and active, and smiles when we smile at her! She’s such a joy . . . I have some more photos that I want to edit, but I thought I’d post these favorites before too much more time passed. I think she looks a lot like her big sister.

It’s been such a fun and busy Christmas for us! Our own little Elizabeth Anne arrived on December 23, weighing 7 lbs, 2 oz, and 19 1/4″ long. She’s healthy, strong, and super sweet! We have lots of late nights but I’m soaking up the snuggle time . . . Big sister Abby likes to be a helper and runs to get a binky when Izzy cries.

I’ve really enjoyed taking her newborn photos. It was hard to choose some to share – so there will probably be a couple installments of baby photos as I find time to post.

This last one was taken just two days after Izzy was born . . .

Baby Judah – a Menifee Newborn

Yes, I’m still officially taking a break from photo sessions, but I couldn’t resist when my friend asked me to take pictures of her new little boy. Hopefully Judah and my little one on the way will grow up to be good friends! Judah was super alert when he came over, but we got him to sleep and my favorite photos came in the sleepy stage . . .

I can’t decide which version I like better – any thoughts?? And GREAT hat, Rosy!!

On Sabbatical

We are so exited to add a new little girl to our family! It seemed like I would be pregnant forever . . . and now I’ve only got a couple weeks left. In my last stretch of “one child mommy-hood” I’m investing my time playing with my two year old. We color Winnie the Pooh pages, read books, and play legos. Get ready for a BIG installment of newborn pictures of our new little princess!

This pregnancy my body has stayed amazingly flexible, but I’m so close to the end that I’ve started turning down the late December jobs. I’m scheduling sessions for mid-January . . . let me know if you’d like to book a session!

Don & Misty – Family Beach Photography

It was a joy to meet Misty and Don’s family this weekend. I could tell that Misty was so fun and friendly through our emails and she’s just as sweet in person! It was a bright, sunny morning at the beach, so we ducked into the last remnants of shade as soon as we got there.

And Don didn’t think he was very photogenic . . .

Ben is the best big brother ever! Katelynn totally adores him. She hung out by his side all morning – and guess who let her win the game of tackle?

Isn’t Katelynn super sweet? And just like her mommy!

But don’t let her fool you . . . I love her sassy looks . . .

I can’t decide which one I love more – Ben with Dad or with Mom. They’re both precious.

Not long after I took this last photo, Ben stepped on a bee that was crawling on the beach. I can honestly say I think it’s the first injury a client has had during a session – if someone is going to get soaked or scraped, it’s ME! Dad knew just what to do and pulled out the stinger. Ben was amazing – those bee stings HURT!!

Family Day at the Beach

I love going to the beach. It’s so fun to watch Abby run to the water and jump right in. So while they played, I goofed off with my camera . . .

I ordered a big gallery wrap of this one. It arrived yesterday and is hanging in our office – where I can see it all the time. :0)

I love the Dietrich family – they are such examples of hospitality and service to others. Avary is a sweet little girl and will be a FANTASTIC big sister! I was glad to be able to take her photos just after her one year old birthday . . .
